Copper and the Home Competition

Copper and the Home 2016 is the latest iteration of a well-established design competition calling on designers to take fresh inspiration from the red metal and its alloys.

Sponsored by Istituto Italiano del Rame (Italian Copper Institute) and the European Copper Institute, the International Copper and the Home Competition invites professional and student designers to reinvent everyday objects with copper, celebrating and exploiting the aesthetic and technical strengths of the metal and its alloys.

The competition is open to those born after September 30 1976 and is divided into two categories:

  • Designers and architects
  • Students in schools for graphics, decoration, design or faculties of architecture or design, at doctoral, degree and masters level.

The submission deadline is 30 September 2016.

In this edition, a special plaque will be awarded to an Italian designer or architect, chosen by the Italian Copper Institute, and they will be encouraged to present their project hors concours.
