Copper and the Home 2016 is the latest iteration of a well-established design competition calling on designers to take fresh inspiration from the red metal and its alloys.
Sponsored by Istituto Italiano del Rame (Italian Copper Institute) and the European Copper Institute, the International Copper and the Home Competition invited professional and student designers to reinvent everyday objects with copper, celebrating and exploiting the aesthetic and technical strengths of the metal and its alloys.
The competition is divided into two categories:
- Designers and architects
- Students in schools for graphics, decoration, design or faculties of architecture or design, at doctoral, degree and masters level.
The submission deadline was 30 September 2016.
The Jury, composed of the designer Philippe Bestenheider, the architect and designer Diego Grandi and Marco Romanelli, architect and design critic, met in December 2016 and has unanimously chosen the winners from the Architect and Student categories, who will receive a prize or an honourable mention.
